Blue 9’8″ EPS Blank

How To Order

green bennett-foam logo

EPS is Expanded Poly Styrene also known as bead foam.

EPS material has been around since the 1950?s, but has really taken off again in Surfboard building in the last few years. We now supply custom EPS Foam Blanks; this EPS is highly fused and has a much smaller bead size than the early years.

EPS must be glassed with Epoxy Resin. Early epoxies were highly toxic if not handled right. They were also not very clear and tended to be more yellow brown in colour. But our own branded CET Resin is more environmentally friendly, has better clarity and is white.

EPE Blanks are lighter and more buoyant than PU Blanks, and the use of Epoxy in their finish makes then more durable than polyester resin.

 Shaper’s Comments:
This blank is a scaled down version of the 9’8″ EPS. The goal was to design an EPS mold plug that would accommodate any longboard shape program in the 7’10” to 8’6″ range for machine cutting purposes. After analyzing all the rocker templates from the Clark Foam data base we came up with a ?middle of the road? rocker profile, and added thickness to the nose and tail to allow for straight to extreme rocker profiles. The plan shape and width have also been maximized. This blank will be offered in 2 different thicknesses to accommodate for both machine shaping and hand shaping.
